Dr James Sax is an Associate Consultant Vitreoretinal Surgeon at Queensland Eye & Retina Specialists, specialising in medical and surgical diseases of the retina. His areas of interest include retinal detachment, macular hole, epiretinal membrane, retinal vascular disease, complex cataracts and diabetic retinopathy.

Dr. James Sax completed his secondary and undergraduate bachelor in Brisbane before pursuing a career in medicine through the University of Queensland.  Dr Sax specialist training in ophthalmology was undertaken at major hospitals in Brisbane, Gold Coast and Townsville.   He subsequently completed a year of vitreoretinal training at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, before travelling to the UK to complete further vitreoretinal training at the University of Southampton General Hospital.

Dr Sax currently works in both public and private as a vitreoretinal surgeon and also provides a comprehensive eye care service – including uveitis, cataracts, general ophthalmology and ocular trauma.
