Dr Cameron Cooke has quite simply always wanted to be an orthopaedic surgeon. He enjoys treating a range of patients with a range of conditions and thoroughly enjoys making a difference in people’s lives.
Raised in Brisbane, he completed both his medical degree (1992) and advanced surgical training in Orthopaedic Surgery in Queensland (2001). Cameron went onto further advanced sub-specialty training in joint replacement and orthopaedic trauma in Sydney, Vancouver in Canada and Sheffield in the UK.
Since establishing his private practice in 2005, Dr Cameron Cooke has continued to focus on the management of all hip and knee conditions and sports injuries, undertaking further training in the anterior approach to hip replacement, as well as management of orthopaedic trauma of the lower limb and the provision of objective medicolegal reporting. He enjoys continuing to learn and develop his skills and sharing his knowledge and expertise by both attending and presenting at numerous Australian and International orthopaedic conferences.
Along with his private practice he is the Director of Orthopaedics at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. In his role, he has established a hip fracture service and maintains his interest in high energy trauma and complex hip and knee replacement surgeries. He regularly lectures both in Australia and overseas.

Dr Brett Collins is a Queensland trained Orthopaedic Surgeon practicing in Brisbane. He has a focus on knee surgery, with experience in other lower limb and shoulder surgery. His special interest area is in sports related injuries. This includes knee reconstruction, arthroscopy, joint replacement and osteotomies. Meniscal, cartilage and joint preservation surgery forms a significant part of his practice.
Brett completed his medical degree at The University of Queensland in 1999 before joining the Orthopaedic Training Program. He gained his Fellowship in Orthopaedics from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2009. Subspeciality fellowship training was undertaken in Canada in 2010-11.
He spent 12 months at the Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic in London, Ontario focusing solely on Sports Orthopaedics with exposure to professional and university athletes. He also completed a Lower Limb Arthroplasty Fellowship at St Michaels Hospital in Toronto, Ontario.
Orthopaedic research activity currently includes investigations in to ACL graft strength and reconstruction techniques, meniscal root repair and the association between ACL ruptures and osteoarthritis. Teaching includes Registrar and Medical Student training.

He has been a specialist hand and upper limb surgeon since 2007 and was Director of Orthopaedic Surgery at Ipswich General Hospital from 2008-2012.
Dr Melsom graduated from the University of London in 1990 with a degree in Immunology and went on to finish his medical degree at the University of Bristol, UK. After teaching anatomy at Cambridge University, he started surgical training in Bristol, completing his fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1998.
Specialising in Orthopaedics whilst on rotations in Oxford and Bristol, Dr Melsom completed his FRCS (Tr & Orth) in 2004. His interest in hand and upper limb surgery led him to take on fellowships to the Pulvertaft Hand Centre in Derby where the approach to hand and upper limb surgery included plastic surgery techniques, including flaps, soft-tissue cover, re-implantation, and nerve and tendon transfers. Dr Melsom completed the prestigious microsurgical course at Northwick Park Hospital in London and the hand fellowship in Nottingham, UK. Dr Melsom arrived in Australia in 2006 for the upper limb fellowship at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane. He was awarded his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2010.
